Meet Sofia

Hello! 

My name is Sofia. A little bit about me is that I am originally from the United States, but I came to Costa Rica in 2021 to become a full-time EFL teacher. Costa Rica has been “home” ever since then! What originally drew me to becoming  an English teacher was that I love connecting and talking with people. Especially being able to teach others English is really special because I know I am helping them to open up a world of opportunities through language.

My favorite places to be are anywhere with good coffee and desserts and nature all around me! Spending time with family is my favorite thing in the world. So if I can ever combine a sunset, a good pastry, a mountain AND my mom all in one place, then we have the happiest version of Sofia!!

I also love traveling, seeing the world and all it has to offer. I love immersing myself in new cultures! I believe when you make the choice to learn a new language, you are committing to being a lifelong learner, which is an amazing thing! I am passionate about helping students achieve their goals and dreams and I feel honored to be able to be a part of that process. In class I want the student to really feel relaxed and at ease. We are all learning new things everyday and you should never feel ashamed to make mistakes! The beauty is in the trying.
